About The Artist: When Bucky Heard was in first grade, his teacher, Miss Yarbrough, announced to the class that they were going to have an art contest. She passed out colored paper and crayons and instructed the class to use their imagination and be creative.  Well, his little green snowman won first prize!  As he grew older, that special moment symbolized the importance of recognizing the creative and intellectual potential in all children. In 2007, Bucky joined forces with long time friend and singer/songwriter, Chris Skillern, and they began a quest to combine an exciting musical sound with an important educational message.  As a result, Rock U Mentally, was born. Through the use of creatively designed skits, exciting original music, energizing choreography, “larger than life” costumed characters, innovative music videos, two zany mad scientists, colorful puppets, and a powerful educational message, Rock U Mentally, teaches children how to be socially and environmentally responsible. The phrase, “That’s over a child’s head,” is not part of our vocabulary.  We want children to ask questions about the important concepts taught in our songs in hopes of opening up the lines of communication between them and their parents. Exploring such relevant issues as; how to deal with bullies, what to do if a stranger approaches, unlocking the power of the imagination, and what we all can do to help conserve and protect our extraordinary planet, Rock U Mentally’s catchy lyrics and electrifying grooves will even have Mom and Dad singing along as their children learn valuable lessons that they will carry with them for a lifetime. Rock U Mentally is a labor of love for kids (and parents) everywhere!  So, what are you waiting for, fellow, “Rock U Mentalists”? “Stimulate your imagination, Rock U Mentalize your education!”
