About The Artist: Full-time musician STOLIE (officially Rebecca Stoelinga) grew up in Deerfield, Illinois and currently resides on the northwest side of Chicago. As a kid she learned to play piano and as a teenager, she taught herself guitar. As a young adult, she pursued a degree in music education from Illinois Wesleyan University, but all the while, Stolie was writing, recording and performing her original music on voice, guitar and piano. After 3 album releases and years of touring the country as an original singer-songwriter, Stolie later found a way to continue performing but to stay local — working music publicity, teaching guitar and piano, and hammering out the cover tunes at bars from Wrigleyville to Wisconsin. Her most recent endeavor showcases her live performance talent before a whole new demographic — children! With a new moniker, ‘Super Stolie’ entered the children’s music scene in 2006 when a friend asked her to play family-friendly tunes at a fundraiser for her child’s school. In early 2009, she had written enough children’s material for an album and released When I Grow Up, Super Stolie’s first collection of original music for children. Recorded at her home studio, Super Stolie performs on guitar, piano, ukulele, bass, harmonica, djembe, and programmed all the rest. The result is a full band-sounding rock album, glittered with Stolie’s lyrical wit, and has parents laughing, toddlers tongue-twisting, and has proven to lull the little ones to sleep in the back of the car. Most recently, Super Stolie — as a solo act or with her band, The Rockstars — has entertained children and families at Navy Pier, the Taste of Chicago, the Beat Kitchen and Subterranean children’s series, suburban park district band shells and Chicago-area festivals including Ribfest, Do-Division and West Fest. The live show is a high-energy experience, encouraging children to dance and freeze, hop and balance, and finish it all off with a ‘Rockstar Jump’ and a high five. Super Stolie’s original songs are so catchy that kids will skip away with the tunes in their head, and positive messages to boot!
